This is pairing of two early EP’s by this band from the Seattle area. 5 songs is the first release by the band from 2001 and this reissue adds a sixth song “Apology Song” about a stolen bicycle. “Angel,Won’t You Call Me?” and “Shiny” are pretty good songs and “My Mother Was A Chinese Trapeze Artists” could be the plot of a John Irving novel. The Tain from 2003 is a interpretation of the early (12th century) Irish epic. This is told in five parts and was produced by Chris Walla from fellow Seattle area band Death Cab For Cutie.
