Curved Air-Air Cut

Curved Air was a progressive group with Classical leanings thanks to violinist Daryl Way. He left after the third album leaving only sexy singer Sonja Kristina and Mike Wedgwood to find new members. Eddie Jobson came in to play violin and keyboards and they released this, their fourth album in 1973. I bought this used when I was living in Philly at a record store on Cotman Avenue near the Roosevelt Mall.New guitarist Kirby gave them a more rock oriented sound than their previous records. The best song on this record is “Metamorphosis” a ten minute song with a really nice middle section featuring piano from Jobson and vocals by Sonja.”The Purple Speed Queen” got some FM airplay,I remember hearing it on the radio.”Two-Three-Two” is the most rocking song written by bassist Mike Wedgwood. Other songs have their moments but these three are the best.
