The Cure-Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me

Although this came out in 1987 I did not buy it until I bought a re-issue in 2019. As with all new records I buy I only listened to side one. This is a two record set so it is my first time listening to most of it. This record was a big seller for them continuing the popularity they achieved with their previous album The Head on the Door. They have a new guitarist and drummer for this record with Tolhurst moving to keyboards. There seems to be more jamming on this record than any other Cure record I have heard. It starts out with “The Kiss” with a long guitar, drum and bass intro with lyrics that start out “Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me” and end up “I Wish You Were Dead”. It seems to be a theme of this record with the ever gloomy Smith writing the lyrics. On first listen I really like this record, there are plenty of good songs I want to hear again. “Why Can’t I Be You” got some airplay and “Just Like Heaven” has always been one of my favorite Cure songs. Some early favorites are “How Beautiful You Are” and the first four song on side four.
