Concrete Blonde-Still In Hollywood

This is a two record set of B-sides,live tracks, covers, and unreleased songs from 1994. It’s a pretty good collection with “Probably Will” my favorite unreleased song on the record. There are also good covers of songs by Cheap Trick ,Nick Cave and Jimi Hendrix,an extended version of “Bloodletting(The Vampire Song)”,an acoustic “Joey” and live versions of “Tomorrow,Wendy” and “God Is A Bullet”. This is another one I had on cassette tape but was sold with all my other tapes in 2013. So here is the story on that. After selling my large house in West Reading I was looking for a house to rent that would hold my collection of music. I found an old large farmhouse in Bally that fit the bill and rented it. With 5 bedrooms and a doctors office and waiting room at the front of the house i had ample room to display my music. After about 20 months of living the the landlord informed me he was making it into two apartments and I had to move out in 90 days. Since I was laid off at the time and contemplating moving into a much smaller house I needed some money. Since I always thought that if I had to put my music in a box in a closet somewhere there was no point in having it I would sell all or some of it. At this time I had about 4,800 items including vinyl records, cassette tapes and CD’s so I put an add on Craigslist selling the whole lot for $5,000 or CD’s for a dollar a piece. I got no response for the five grand but a guy from Philly wanted to buy some CD’s. He came to my house and I sold him all 36 Grateful Dead Dicks Picks CD’s for $350 and 150 Heavy Metal cassette tapes for $75. He then went through my CD collection buying over 800 for a dollar apiece. All told $1300 worth. I also sold about 350 records to a local record store, ones I thought I could do without and others I knew they would but. Then in August I went to a flea market near my house every Saturday in the month and sold more CD’s and my collection of Box Sets (nearly a hundred). It was there I met the guy who ended up buying all my cassettes(about 1200) for $250. By the end of the month I had sold most of the box sets(except the cassette ones,no one wanted them). All told I made a little over $3000, enough to move to a new rental. I don’t really miss the CD’s (I still have about 400 of them) but some of the cassettes were special order and hard to find. Since buying a house in 2016 with a finished basement for a music room I have been buying back some titles that have become available on vinyl when I see them. I have not bought a CD since then.
