Colosseum-The Grass Is Greener

This is a good Progressive Jazz -Rock album from January of 1970. This was a U.S. only release on Dunhill Records. This was an alternative to the European release Valentyne Suite and has three tracks from that record and five new tracks. Side one is very good opening up with “Jumping Off The Sun” follows with “Lost Angeles”,”Elegy” and “Butty’s Blues”. Side two starts with the Jack Bruce song “Rope Ladder To The Moon” that I like better than his original and “The Machine Demands A Sacrifice” is also a really good song. Their interpretation of Ravel’s “Bolero” is OK and the record closes with the title track which has some nice guitar by Dave Clemson later of Humble Pie. I don’t know when I bought this used record, probably in the90’s. The cover is in poor shape and the record has two skips on side two but I will be keeping this one.
