Chicken Shack was a British Blues band one of many of that type in the late 60’s.The music o n this double album spans the years 1968-1970 and is a good anthology of their music.Guitarist and vocalist Stan Webb was the mainstay of the band and although a decent guitar player he was no Peter Green. The group also included Christine Perfect on keyboards and vocals. She sings about half the songs on this record and they are the ones I like the best. She wrote two of my favorite songs on the record “When The Train Comes Back” and “You Ain’t No Good” both on side one. A Stan Webb song “Tears In The Wind” was a minor hit in England and is my favorite song by him. Many of the songs have horns added to them. Christine Perfect left in 1970 making a final single with the band,a cover of Etta James classic “I’d Rather Go Blind”. She made one solo album of which two tracks are on this collection. Shortly after that she joined Fleetwood Mac and married bass player John McVie. Stan Webb has continued on as Chicken Shack into this century with many different members coming and going (Over 30). I bought this record used in the late 80’s and is a little scratchy. No Skips.
