This record from 2016 is very dark and very emotional. During the recording Nick’s 15 year old son died in an accident and most of the songs deal with death and loss. Some of the tracks feature him speaking to the background of ambient music.This is the third time listening to side one and at first I didn’t care for it much but after this listen I can appreciate it’s haunting beauty. The gut wrenching “Girl In Amber” is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. Else Torp,a Danish singer, adds her voice to “Distant Sky”. On Skeleton Tree the closing track he seems to come to grips with it singing “It’s alright now”.
