Capability Brown-From Scratch

original

This is a really great album from this English band named after a famous 18th century gardener. This came out in 1972 but I bought it a couple years later from a bin of imports from England. I can find nothing about this band in any of my Rock discographies I own and there is no information on the album save song names and producer info. Every song on this record is great, it’s hard to pick a favorite. From the quiet folky “Garden”,”I Will Be There”,and”Day In Day Out” to the rocking “No Range” and the 9 minute progressive epic “Sole Survivor” this record does not disappoint. It also contains three covers,an extended version of Argent’s “Liar”,a big hit for Three Dog Night, and two songs by Rare Bird “Beautiful Scarlet” and “Redman”Two and Three part harmonies abound on this record, something else I like..An essential album for me it has been played hundreds of times and is a bit scratchy. I have never seen this in any record store but I suppose you could buy in online, something I try not to do. I would rather support local record stores. I liked the cover and was hanging on my wall as art sometime in the past.
