Arthur Brown and Kingdom Come-Journey

original

Arthur Brown’s Crazy World brought us “Fire” in 1968 and when this band broke up,half of them forming Atomic Rooster,Brown got new musicians and different band names finally choosing the name Kingdom Come. Released in 1973 as Kingdom Come. The album I bought in 1974 was on Passport Records and credited to Arthur Brown’s Kingdom Come. This album is a mix of Progressive,Heavy Metal, and Electronics and was way ahead of it’s time.It was one of the first times a drum machine was used as the only percussion instrument and was “played” by Brown. The songs all feature Brown’s operatic vocals and plenty of Mellotron. I had never heard music like this before and was instantly in love with it.All the tracks are good including two short instrumentals. “Spirit of Joy” was released as a single but did not do very well.”Come Alive” and “Time Captives” are my favorites.”Time Captives” was played on the FM radio station I was listening to and was why I bought the record. The record did not sell well initially but is now considered a classic of the genre.
