Brinsley Schwarz-Brinsley Schwarz

This is a re-packaging of their first two records on one two record set.Brinsley Schwarz came out in 1970 and Despite it All came out less than six months later. The best songs are the three longest ones.”Lady Constant” sounds like Crosby, Stills & Nash with their vocal harmonies ,”Ballad of a Has Been Beauty Queen” sounds almost progressive and “Old Jarrow” sounds like it could be a Fairport Convention song. Described as Pub Rock, these records sound more Country/Folk Rock to me.Except for those three mentioned the rest of the songs aren’t too good. Nick Lowe was the bass player in the band and wrote all the songs but two. His 1980 album Labor of Lust is a favorite of mine. I bought this used at a record store in Delaware. Don’t know what I paid for it.
